Academic Support & Student-Athlete Resources
Academic Services for Student-Athletes (ASSA) works with OSS to provide resources for our student population from a continuing eligibility standpoint. We also understand that our athletes have specific needs, and we do our best to provide resources and support to help them reach their full potential.
ASSA provides a computer lab for only student-athletes and free printing services. As part of the onboarding process, we provide the Kane Learning Assessment and our Hornet Risers program to help in the transitional process to college and Delaware State University. There is also device rental (hotspot(s) and laptop(s) for student and staff use. A resource we also provide is priority registration in which we work with primary advisors and athletic staff to balance athletic and academic demands as much as possible. Finally, student-athletes can have their voices heard as participants with our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

NCAA Compliance & Academic Eligibility Certification
ASSA works with Athletics and Compliance to follow and interpret NCAA Bylaws. One of ASSA’s larger responsibilities is related to the student-athletes’Progress Toward their Degree (PTD) and maintaining eligibility.
Delaware State University and its athletes are lucky enough to have a certification specialist on staff to assist the teams with athletic certification-related questions from initial intake to graduation.
