Academic Affairsistheadministrative divisionat Delaware State Universityintegralto realizing the University’s mission and vision.Academic Affairsis responsible forall academic programming delivered throughthe University’sdepartments andcollegesas well asrelated academic activities in coordination with the Office of the President. Thedivision’smissionis to provide the highest quality teaching, learning and research environments possibleutilizing best practices in the latestpedagogicaltechniquesand engagement practicestoensurethesuccess of all students. In addition,the division seeks tointegrate research andothermodesof scholarship along withoutreach activitiestoengagecommunities across Delaware, the Mid-Atlantic Region, the nation and aroundtheworld.

The Office of Academic Affairs’ major responsibilities include, but are notlimitedto:

  • academic planning andbudgeting;
  • program evaluation, assessment andaccreditation;
  • educational policies andprocedures;
  • professional development, promotion and tenure of faculties;and
  • thereaffirmationprocesstothe Middle States Commission on Higher Education

Together with the academic deans, department chairs and directors,Academic Affairsprovides leadership in curriculum and program development, advances the teaching and learning environment, and promotes creative and scholarly activities including research and outreach. The Office also administers existing programs, revises and reviews those programs,and provides administrativeoversight.

Academic Affairs is assisted in its endeavors by its division units: Office of Student Successincluding advising, student support,William C. Jason Library, andthe Honors Program,;Institutional Effectiveness;A2S (“Access to Success”) Program; Research and Sponsored Programs, ; Title III,Land Grant Programs, and the four discipline-based colleges: the Colleges of ;; ;and .
