Academic AffairsÌŭisÌŭtheÌŭadministrative divisionÌŭat Delaware State UniversityÌŭintegralÌŭto realizing the University’s mission and vision.ÌŭAcademic AffairsÌŭis responsible forÌŭall academic programming delivered throughÌŭthe University’sÌŭdepartments andÌŭcollegesÌŭas well asÌŭrelated academic activities in coordination with the Office of the President. TheÌŭdivision’sÌŭmissionÌŭis to provide the highest quality teaching, learning and research environments possibleÌŭutilizing best practices in the latestÌŭpedagogicalÌŭtechniquesÌŭand engagement practicesÌŭtoÌŭensureÌŭtheÌŭsuccess of all students. In addition,Ìŭthe division seeks toÌŭintegrate research andÌŭotherÌŭmodesÌŭof scholarship along withÌŭoutreach activitiesÌŭtoÌŭengageÌŭcommunities across Delaware, the Mid-Atlantic Region, the nation and aroundÌŭtheÌŭworld.

The Office of Academic Affairs’ major responsibilities include, but are notÌŭlimitedÌŭto:Ìŭ

  • academic planning andÌŭbudgeting;
  • program evaluation, assessment andÌŭaccreditation;
  • educational policies andÌŭprocedures;
  • professional development, promotion and tenure of faculties;Ìŭand
  • theÌŭreaffirmationÌŭprocessÌŭtoÌŭthe Middle States Commission on Higher Education

Together with the academic deans, department chairs and directors,ÌŭAcademic AffairsÌŭprovides leadership in curriculum and program development, advances the teaching and learning environment, and promotes creative and scholarly activities including research and outreach. The Office also administers existing programs, revises and reviews those programs,Ìŭand provides administrativeÌŭoversight.Ìŭ

Academic Affairs is assisted in its endeavors by its division units: Office of Student SuccessÌŭincluding advising, student support,ÌŭWilliam C. Jason Library, andÌŭthe Honors Program,Ìŭ;ÌŭInstitutional Effectiveness;ÌŭA2S (“Access to Success”) Program; Research and Sponsored Programs, ; Title III,ÌŭLand Grant Programs, and the four discipline-based colleges: the Colleges of ;Ìŭ; ;Ìŭand .
